The UK could be facing one of the most bitterly cold winters in three decades, weather experts have predicted.
A wintry return comeback for the Beast from the East will reportedly blast the country with icy temperatures and snow – and stay for weeks on end.
According to the Sunday Times, the freezing Arctic air will hit the Midlands very hard – with researchers indicating next January and February will endure the biggest dip in temperature for seven years.
Mark Saunders of University College London reportedly told the newspaper that Britain will be subject to record low temperatures for the season.

He said: “This would rank the 2020 January-February central England temperature as the coldest winter since 2013 and January-February 2020 as the seventh coldest winter in the past 30 years.”
The last appearance of the Beast from the East in Britain in 2018 brought perishing conditions of as low as -14C in Scotland.
Seventeen people died as a result of the terrible weather.
However, ahead of winter, September could turn out to be the WARMEST in recent memory, with plumes of desert heat heating up the country to about 26C.

That would make the UK warmer than Hawaii at the same time of year.
Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze is reported to have told the Mirror: “Computer forecast models support the three-month period ahead being among the warmest on record.
“Indian summer-like settled and sunny weather is forecast to start in a week’s time, lasting a week or more and seeing highs up to 26C.
“High pressure is expected to bring a southerly feed, with heat arriving from southern Europe and north Africa.”
