Heavy rain is forecast to drench Britain over the next 24 hours – with experts warning an entire month’s rainfall could deluge some parts of the country.
The Met Office has issued a ‘danger to life’ warning and a caution there could be flooding following predictions up to 4 inches of rain may soak high ground.
Wales and northern England are tipped to bear the brunt of the worst and most miserable conditions although a cold front is expected across the entire country from Friday afternoon.
Two inches of rain is expected even on lower ground – and the downpours are forecast to last until the end of Saturday.

Six flood warnings have also been put in place by the Environment Agency, covering the lower Avon, lower River Soar in Leicestershire, north Kesteven, Rase and Upper Ancholme, the River Evenlode, the River Glyme and the River Mole.
The Met Office cautioned: “Rain is expected to arrive across parts of the UK during Friday and become heavy and persistent, this is especially true for high ground exposed to the strong southwesterly wind.
“There remains some uncertainty to the locations likely to see the highest rainfall totals. This rain is expected to continue falling in similar areas for around 24 hours.
“As such during this period 1.6-2.4 inches of rain is likely, with perhaps as much as 4 inches over higher ground.”

It is believed the average rainfall for England is just under 3.6 inches – with nearly 3.42 inches already falling this month – and 6.68 inches in Wales (4.8 inches so far this month).
Met Office spokesman Nicola Maxey also told Mail Online that the cold front meant there could be some sunshine following the heavy rain, expected to also give way to blustery showers tomorrow.
She also indicated temperatures will become chillier, falling from around 16C to as low as 9C.
Overnight frosts are expected to follow on Sunday over into Monday, with showers also a possibility at the start of next week.
