UK weather: Thunderstorms forecast after Easter weekend scorcher

Thundery showers are expected from Wednesday

Brits only have one more day to bask in the scorching sunshine before the weather takes a sharp turn.

Today’s temperatures could hit a sweltering 27C and tomorrow is also expected to be balmy, with a “potential of 28C”, according to one Met Office forecaster.

However, the Easter heatwave will be making way to showers and thunderstorms from Wednesday.

Met Office meteorologist Ellie Creed told the Express: “The Bank Holiday Monday is going to be pretty warm as temperatures have risen over the last few days.”

Wisley in Surrey reached a high of 25C yesterday, while it was just 17C in Barcelona, according to the BBC.

And Saturday was named the warmest day of the year so far when the mercury hit 25.5C in Gosport, Hampshire.

Creed added: “High cloud for England and Wales meaning it could be hazy sunshine at times for the East though temperatures are still peaking.

“Highs of 25 or 26C with one or two showers possible as well on Monday. A similar story on Tuesday, there could be a little bit of hail and thunder mixed in. For the most part the sunshine continues and again it could be pretty warm for most.”
