Vicky Pattison recently described having a “wake-up call” after she ended up in hospital.
Taking to Instagram in June, the I’m A Celebrity winner shared photos of herself in hospital.

“Definitely not the weekend I was intending on having..” Vicky captioned the post.
“I was anticipating being up mount Snowdon for God’s sake!” She went on, before explaining the painful ordeal.
“I woke up Thursday with a terrible headache, I ignored it and assumed it was because I’d had super long day. It persisted and became a sore throat, razor blade vibes and I got the fever, aches, pains, sore joints etc. I tried to get to an emergency doctors appointment but we got stuff in a terrible accident. A journey that should have take an hour took 6 and even though the Dr did his best on the phone he had no real way of knowing what was best.”

She continued: “Fast forward 24hours and I had started to be sick which was just making everything worse – my throat was so swollen I couldn’t swallow, drink water and pain killers were completely out of the question, it was getting to the point where I physically couldn’t move.”
Vicky – on Sunday Brunch this weekend (August 18) – said she began feeling “scared” and ended up in A&E. She added: “After around 36 hours, about 6 bags of fluid, 3 of antibiotics and an untold amount of pain relief we’re starting to get to the bottom of things.”

Vicky said that doctors believe she might have glandular fever, an infection and a throat abscess.
She speculated that it had most likely come about due to not giving herself enough time to recover from having Covid, combined with a “punishing schedule” over the past year.
“This has been the wake up call I needed,” she concluded. “I’ll be in hospital for awhile & I think it’s for the best.”
Vicky is now out of hospital and looking forward to her wedding – despite spiraling costs leaving her a little “heartbroken“.
