Sure, Jane McDonald is popular, but is she THAT popular? Some Channel 5 viewers aren’t so sure as they’ve blasted TV bosses for lining up too many shows starring the singer.
In fact, on New Year’s Eve, the star is set to appear for five and a half solid hours, across five different shows.
The Jane McDonald night kicks off at 8pm on 31 December with Christmas Cruising With Jane McDonald.
That’s followed by Jane McDonald and Friends NYE Special, Jane McDonald: My Life Story, another episode of Cruising With Jane McDonald, the second part of Jane McDonald and Friends NYE Special, and, finally, Jane: 12 Cruises of Christmas, which finishes at 1.35am.

Fans were not so sure they wanted that much of the 55-year-old, as one tweeted: “Jane McDonald night from 8pm on New Year’s Eve until 1:35am on Channel 5 that’s a nightmare.”
A second added: “I like Jane but [bleeping] hell that’s ridiculous!”
Another wrote: “Obviously the scheduler is a fan. #janemcdonald.”
A fourth moaned: “That’s Channel 5 for you. Cheap and nasty.”
Others defended the decision, with one pointing out: “Change the channel then, there’s almost a 1000 different ones to choose from 😳.”
Another commented: “Anyone who thinks Jane McDonald having ‘six shows on New Year’s Eve alone’ is somehow a bad thing can unfollow me rn.”

One more said: “Why are people moaning – there are more channels to watch?”

It’s not surprising Channel 5 is a fan of Jane. The channel won its first Bafta this year for Cruising With Jane McDonald, and the presenter said in her acceptance speech that it was testament to the channel’s “evolution”.

And there’s set to be even more Jane in the New Year, as she’s going on tour, as well as doing more TV work.
The prolific star confirmed her plans as she wished her fans a Happy Christmas last week.

The Loose Women star commented beside the picture of herself by a tree: “I’d like to wish everyone a very merry #Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I hope to see many of you next year – I’m so excited to get out on tour again, it’s going to be the best one yet! Love to you all, Jane xx.”

We can’t get enough of Jane, but this amount of Jane all in one night, might test that statement…
