Good Morning Britain viewers call for Piers Morgan to be SACKED

Will he really be gone by Christmas?

Piers Morgan must be shifting uncomfortably in his seat right now, with Good Morning Britain fans calling for him to be FIRED from his job.

The ITV show’s official Twitter feed posted a message this morning giving viewers the chance to vote on whether or not the controversial presenter should be shown the door before Christmas.

And with nearly 700 votes cast in the jokey referendum so far, the majority have said they want him gone – with some even calling for him to be axed before the end of the day!

As the latest score in the poll flashed up on screen, showing that 52 per cent of viewers want Piers to be given the boot, the presenter quipped: “I’m quite encouraged by that!”

And the 52-year-old seemed to take the rejection in his stride, proceeding to read out some of the negative comments he’d been getting on social media.

One said of Piers: “He’s so annoying – get rid of him!”

And another added: “Hopefully, this will backfire and wipe that smug grin off his face.”

Piers then poured scorn on his critics, saying: “I’m telling you, you’ll get me sacked, and then where will you be? You’ll wake up without me shouting at you!”

His fate is by no means sealed yet, with 48 per cent of viewers wanting him to stay. And the presenter took great pleasure in reading out some of the more positive comments.

One viewer dismissed the suggestion that the former Mirror editor should be given his P45, saying: “Absolutely not – it would become as dull as BBC Breakfast.”

And another said: “He’s a ratings puller – it’s a struggle to watch without him on it.”

But Susanna had a word of caution for Piers’s supporters. She told them: “Make sure you vote, because at the moment [he’s] getting sacked before Christmas!”

Meanwhile, Piers has slammed the result of last night’s Sports Personality of the Year award.

Athlete Mo Farah took the big prize at the glitzy ceremony, but while Piers agreed that Mo’s gong was “well-deserved”, he took a swipe at voters for overlooking two other sports stars.

He tweeted: “Absolute shambles at the end of #spoty. Congrats anyway to @Mo_Farah on winning (assuming he ever got his well-deserved award), but how on earth did @anthonyfjoshua & @LewisHamilton not make the Top 3?

“The British public’s glittering record of voting insanity continues.”

Well, after today’s GMB referendum, he’s probably thinking that more than ever…
