The poor little lad is only a few hours old but Moira’s new son has already had a traumatic life – and it looks like it’s about to get even worse as ‘nanny’ Emma Barton stole him from the hospital.
While fans were shocked by the killer’s latest actions, they were also fascinated as to how Emma – dressed as a nurse – was able to move freely around the hospital, steal a baby and evade all the police that were there while she is a person of interest in a crime.
Earlier Emma, who is managing to move around the village at lightning speed, overheard Pete – who Moira has said is the baby’s dad – telling Ross that he wanted nothing to do with his son.
“He’d be better off without me,” a glum Pete told his brother, after worrying he’d be stuck with the newborn if Moira, who is still unconscious, doesn’t pull through.
Emma popped in to say a goodbye to her new grandson, fearing the police were at the hospital for her.
Unknown to Emma, they were actually there to investigate what had happened to her son, Finn, who was rushed in with a shot wound after being found by Cain and Harriet as they tried to escape the village for a mini-break.
When the police rushed past Emma without a backward glance she smiled at the tot, telling him God had plans for them, before taking him out of his cot and heading out.
Is anyone else worried about what these plans might be? Emma’s not exactly in the most stable of head spaces at the present moment.
Meanwhile, the police headed to Adam Barton where they arrested him for attempted murder – as he’d been seen with the gun. Yeah, it’s not looking great for Ads.
There was also a shock for the Barton clan when Finn – who knows the truth about Emma killing their dad, James – went into cardiac arrest.
The hospital crash team tried to save him, but the last thing viewers heard was: “We’re losing him.”
Has Emma accidentally killed her own son?
While many viewers were beside themselves, others were busy picking holes in the plot.
Like, how did Emma manage to get her dishevelled self together, find a nurse’s uniform, slip into the neo-natal unit at the hospital unnoticed – and walk out with a baby?
