Viewers threaten to boycott This Morning over ‘lazy’ engagement content

Is it all too much of a good thing now?

This Morning viewers have pleaded with the show to STOP talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement.

Tuesday’s episode of the ITV daytime show opened with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield sharing their excitement over the impending royal wedding.

“Good morning!” chirped Holly. “We’re still very excited about Harry and Meghan here.”

“She’s incredible,” gushed Phillip.

“What an amazing day that was yesterday,” added Holly. “We love her!”

The pair then showed off some of the royal memorabilia already on offer before replaying Harry and Meghan’s first TV interview, which originally aired last night.

Well, some This Morning viewers have had enough, with many pointing out they already had to sit through a whole show about the royal engagement on Monday.

Some said they were switching channels until the Harry and Meghan news ceased, saying they’d already seen the Harry and Meghan interview on TV last night and nothing new had happened since.

Unfortunately for them, the show went on to air an interview with a royal expert, who gave a breakdown of the couple’s photocall and TV interview yesterday.

They also speculated on the wedding date and venue.

Harry and Meghan announced their engagement on Monday morning, after Harry proposed to his American actress girlfriend during a night in at home in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

Meghan said last night: “We were trying to roast a chicken and it just — just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.

“I could barely let [him] finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now?’”

Harry popped the question with a ring featuring diamonds from his mother Princess Diana’s jewellery collection and a yellow gold band.

He said: “The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was sort of confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned, everything was just perfect.

“It was this beautiful woman just sort of literally tripped and fell into my life, I fell into her life.

“I know the fact that she will be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well is obviously a huge relief to me because she will be able to deal with everything else that comes with it.

“We’re a fantastic team. We know we are. And we hope to, over time, try and have as much impact for the things that we care about as much as possible.”
