Corrie fans know that Pat Phelan’s downfall is still a few months away, plenty of time for him to add a few more bodies to his collection at the mill.
This week Steve McDonald gets a glimpse of Phelan’s dark side when the murdering builder pops into the cab office to drop wife Eileen off a cake.

A hungry Steve eyes up the iced bun and jokes that Eileen – who’s at the dentist – might be ages yet, so he may as well eat it.
Phelan then watches with interest as Steve takes a call from Faye Windass, ordering a cab to take her to Viola Street.
Pat’s daughter, Nicola Rubinstein, lives on Viola Street and his heckles are up as she hasn’t allowed him to visit her at home.
So why would Faye be going there?
Nicola’s fobbed him off, but viewers know it’s because she has Seb Franklin staying with her – and Seb is one of the few people who know the truth about the Street’s resident serial killer.
Viewers also know that, while Phelan believes Nicola wants to be part of his life again, she’s actually plotting along with Seb and Gary Windass to bring him down.
After hearing Faye’s call to Steve, Phelan suddenly makes his excuses and hurries out of the cab office – presumably to follow Faye and find out what’s going on.
But not before he issues Steve a terrifying warning.
“If you even think about eating my wife’s cake, you’re a dead man,” he tells Steve in a sinister whisper, before laughing manically in his face.
Even though Phelan laughs it off as a joke, Steve looks pretty scared.
The psychotic killer then heads off on his mission to Nicola’s, but what will he find there?
