Wayne Rooney has finally broken his stony silence and had his say regarding his drink-drive shame earlier this year.
The former England captain was arrested back in September and has now spoken out, declaring it a “stupid mistake”.
The footballer was pulled over by police at 2am one Friday in Cheshire, while driving a black VW Beetle.
The car wasn’t his; it belonged to Laura Simpson, a young woman who Wayne had met earlier that evening at the Bubble Room in Alderly Edge.
And to top it all off, it happened while his pregnant wife Coleen was away on holiday.

Wayne has since been sentenced to community service and has been banned from driving for two years.
But only now, four months on, has he publicly admitted that his actions let his family down.
In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT to be aired this weekend, Wayne admits: “Sometimes you make mistakes. I held my hands up. I made a mistake.
“I knew straight away I had made a stupid mistake and I have to move on.
“It is not nice. I’ve got children and it is not nice for them to see that and I try to move on and learn from it which I feel I am doing.”
In the interview Wayne adds that he’s actually enjoying his community service at a community garden centre, where he works alongside adults with learning difficulties.
Laura, the woman caught up in the scandal, put her version of events across in the public arena, immediately after the scandal broke.
She has since found fame following her evening with Wayne and told the Mail Online that she shared a kiss with the footballer after they met on the night out.

She also said that she believed they would have slept together if police had not stopped the car.
“We had a kiss, a hug and some banter, harmless fun. I’m not a marriage wrecker,” she said at the time.
This was denied by Rooney’s people.
