She became a household name after Wayne Rooney was caught drink-driving in her VW Beetle last month, while she sat next to him in the passenger seat.
Office worker Laura Simpson went on to appear on This Morning and there have been rumours of a Celebrity Big Brother role in the making – but it seems as if she’s having regrets about the whole thing.
The 29-year-old posted a photo to Instagram on Tuesday with the cryptic caption: “Throwback to the night I wish I stayed in.”
In the snap she can be seen all glammed up and posing in a bathroom, while taking the selfie in a full-length mirror.
Although Laura didn’t expressly identity which night she was talking about, it wasn’t long before some started speculating the picture was taken on the night she met Wayne, 31.
Which would mean her caption meant regrets at going out that night, meeting Wayne, and all the drama and scandal that followed.
Nasty hangover the next day? Rowing with a pal? Sending a booze-fuelled embarrassing text? Eating too much junk food at 2am?
The possibilities are endless.
Two things made headlines: the fact he was charged with drink-driving and the fact he’d been behind the wheel of Laura’s car, with her in the passenger seat.
Wayne’s pregnant wife Coleen, 31, had been on holiday at the time.
An insider told The Sun on Sunday at the time: “Wayne has pleaded his innocence of doing anything with Laura and told Coleen he will do anything to keep the family together.
“He has told her that she and the kids are his world.”
She told MailOnline she shared a kiss with Wayne after they met on a night out and said she believed they would have slept together if police had not stopped the car.
“We had a kiss, a hug and some banter, harmless fun. I’m not a marriage wrecker,” she said.
“I can understand [Coleen] being mad with [Wayne] over the arrest. That was stupid and, on reflection, he should never have driven my car, but he didn’t seem to be over the limit.
“But she can’t blame him for anything that happened with me, because nothing did really – although we would’ve ended up [sleeping together], no doubt.”
“I told her the truth, that it wasn’t and that we had left in a cab together to get my car which was parked outside a friend’s.
“I apologised to her and she said, ‘You have nothing to say sorry for’.
“I’m a single girl, but if that was my husband, I’d be really angry.”
Denying the claims, she said: “For one I had a t-shirt on, a baggy t-shirt, for two I’ve not kissed and cuddled him.
“I think if that happened there would have been a lot more coverage of him as we were in a bar.
“I just feel like I’ve been thrown under the bus. With all the quotes that have been published, anything I say further is fuelling the fire really.
“It’s been blown out of proportion what was about to happen, or apparently going to happen.”
If so, it may not be a surprise, as she said recently she was selling her VW Beetle after being taunted at traffic lights by people who recognised her.
Although, one could argue that she’d be better served making her social media accounts private and allowing everyone to forget about her…
Wayne appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on September 18 and pleaded guilty to a drink-driving charge.
The judge handed him a two-year driving ban and 100 hours of unpaid charity work as part of a 12-month community order.
Meanwhile, it was reported recently that Wayne’s continuing his bid to get back in Coleen’s good books.
Apparently he’s just bought a new £5 million holiday home in Portugal and is trying to convince her to join him on a lavish holiday.
A source told The Sun: “Wayne wants to take Coleen away to make things up to her and so they can work on their marriage.
“They haven’t finalised the destination but Dubai has been mentioned.”
The couple are parents to sons Kai, seven, Klay, four, and Kit, one, with a new baby on the way next year.
