An amber heatwave warning has been issued by the Met Office ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The level 3 notice cautions people to take “heatwave action” and is triggered when the Met Office has more than 90% confidence that “threshold” temperatures will be met.
The warning indicates the elderly, people with underlying health conditions and very young children are most at risk and requires social and healthcare services to target assisting such groups of people.
And despite the lure of the enjoying the sun at the beach or in parks and gardens, health expert have suggested it is better to avoid the sun during the roasting heat.
