Well wishes pour in for Paul O’Grady following news of his collapse

TV fave became ill while filming

Paul O’Grady is one of Entertainment Daily’s absolute TV faves, so our hearts skipped a beat earlier this week about Paul O’Grady being rushed to hospital while filming a new TV series.

He was filming his ITV documentary For the Love of Dogs, in India, and picked up an infection from one of the dogs he was handling.

The TV legend later collapsed and was rushed for emergency treatment at a hospital. Paul was told by doctors he was at risk of kidney failure, but luckily they were able to save him.

Every time we write about Paul, hundreds of followers sing his praises.

So it’s no surprise his fans have been flooding ED! with get-well-soon wishes after hearing the news he’d been feeling poorly.

One wrote: “Oh you lovely man. So caring but funny. Take care of yourself as much as you care for the animals.”

And another summed up the mood with: “Come on Paul please look after yourself we can’t lose you, you are too precious.”

A third said: “You are a lovely caring and compassionate man, but please look after yourself. We all love you and what you do for all the animals in your programmes.”

The Cheshire-born entertainer rose to fame with his outrageous alter ego, the sharp-tongued Lily Savage.

But as he’s aged, he has mellowed to become a beloved showbiz institution, as famous for his compassion as his comic timing.

Last week he had This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langford in stitches as he regaled them with tales of his country life.

Although he couldn’t do anything about the rescue dog he’d brought with him from Battersea Dogs’ Home doing a wee on the hay bale he was sitting on!

We hope everything is going well for Paul after his recovery.
