Emmerdale introduced Liv’s cellmate tonight as the teen remains behind bars for Meena‘s crime.
But where do you recognise actress Cathy Breeze from?
She’s appeared in Emmerdale before, and been in Coronation Street.
The actress also had a rather iconic line in The Inbetweeners Movie back in 2011…

Who is Liv’s cellmate in prison?
Liv is currently living at Her Majesty’s pleasure sharing a cell with a lady called Mel.
Mel is older than Liv and has taken her under her wing.
She’s trying to make sure Liv eats and looks after herself, despite Liv pushing back.
“You’ve got to eat, Sweetheart,” Mel told her tonight (Thursday, December 9). “If we get down there early we’ll get the best grub.”
Liv told her to leave her alone, but Mel replied: “I’m only trying to help.” She then told Liv to get a shower and she would make her bed for her.
Mel also advised her which shower cubicle was best and seems to be really genuine in wanting to help Liv.
Who plays Liv’s cellmate in Emmerdale?
Mel is played by Cathy Breeze.
She is a well-known theatre actress who has appeared in Emmerdale before.
The Leeds-born performer played Nurse Hill in 2018. She was caring for Sarah Sugden when she was in hospital for a heart transplant.
Sarah, and indeed her mother, Debbie Dingle, didn’t like Nurse Hill much, especially not when she told Debbie and then-boyfriend Joe Tate off for bringing fast food into Sarah’s room.
Prior to this, Cathy played a care home manager in the soap in 2016.
What else has Cathy Breeze been in?
As well as her stint in Emmerdale, Cathy has appeared in Coronation Street too.
She played David Platt’s education welfare officer in 2006 and cropped up again in 2011 as a security officer at the court when Fiz Stape went on trial for the murder of Colin Fishwick.
However, fans of The Inbetweeners may well know Cathy best for her somewhat iconic appearance in the first film as Neil’s Northern Bird.
Main character Neil picked her up in a nightclub, despite her being much older than him. He then took her back to his apartment for the night.
As she left the next morning she told the gang: “Don’t worry boys, Kitty doesn’t bite… Not once she’s been fed, eh lover?” before walking off and pulling her underwear out of her bottom.
The actress has also been in several episodes of Still Open All Hours, Doctors, Holby City and The Syndicate.

Is Liv’s cellmate a good guy?
It seems as if Mel is trying to help Liv, but it remains to be seen if she’s actually got an agenda.
Liv is facing a lengthy stretch behind bars and having been abandoned by her family, any support right now will be welcome.
But will Mel be the right person to guide Liv through?
