Real reason why Kate and Meghan wear short dresses during pregnancy

They always look incredible

The Duchess of Sussex and The Duchess of Cambridge are known for their incredibly chic styles and during pregnancy, the pair have still looked absolutely incredible.

Kate, who has three children with husband Prince William, often favoured shorter dresses during royal engagements while she was pregnant and, apparently, there’s a reason why.

Meghan, who is expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry, often opts for midi dresses, however, has followed in her sister-in-law’s footsteps by wearing shorter dresses to show off her bump on some occasions.

But there is an actual reason why the Duchesses do this, apparently.

Speaking to Instyle magazine, founder of maternity brand Seraphine Cecile Reinaud explained that while pregnant you can create a nice silhouette by “highlighting legs and arms”.

She said: “Kate did go shorter for sure. She went shorter, on a couple of occasions well above her knee, which she never does normally.

“And especially in winter, because when she wore opaque black tights, it looks okay. It doesn’t look too much because it’s not bare legs.”

Cecile added: “Highlighting legs and arms is always a good trick to keep a nice silhouette.”

Meghan was spotted wearing midi dresses during her 16-day tour across Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with Harry, The Duke of Sussex, last month.

However, as her bump continues to blossom, she may begin wearing shorter dresses to accentuate the bump.

Kate has three children – George, five, Charlotte, three, and six-month-old Louis – with William, The Duke of Cambridge.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are preparing to become parents for the first time.

Before jetting off to the other side of the world, the couple announced they were expecting their first child.

Kensington Palace released a statement last month that read: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
