Tommy was singing for a chair during the show’s Six-Chair Challenge when a misplaced step backwards saw him topple off the show’s x-shaped stage.
The 20-year-old singer song-writer Tommy was performing an original song called Dipping Biscuits when he fell, leaving the judges and audience shocked.
Host Dermot O’Leary along with a couple of the show’s backstage crew, raced to check on the singer, while his fellow contestants waited nervously backstage.
But within a couple of minutes Tommy was upright, giving a fist-pump to show the crowds he was ok.
Tommy’s tumble is in the episode scheduled to air tonight.
The nerve-wracking Six-Chair Challenge sees those who were successful during the show’s audition rounds divided into four categories.
Only six contestants from each category will make it through to the next round – represented by six chairs that sit on stage as each hopeful performs, slowly filling as the judges choose who to put through.
This year, the challenge has been updated a little – with the addition of the Golden X.
