Well, hello there, blonde bombshell! X Factor star Joe McElderry looks unrecognisable as he showcases his new bleached ‘do on Instagram.
Lounging on a garden chair and wearing a pair of sunglasses in the picture he shared with fans, Joe, 27, admitted he had let the sunshine go straight to his head as he hit the hair salon.

He captioned the snap: “All this sun’s gone to my head!”, tagging Wade’s Barber Shop, who were responsible for Joe’s new peroxide hair.
Fans were quick to praise the singer, who won The X Factor in 2009 under the guidance of Cheryl, for his daring transformation.

“Dark, natural colour or blonde, you look gorgeous!” wrote one admirer.
Another added, “Really suits you Joe. Looking hotter than ever.”

One fan also compared him to X Factor judge Gary Barlow.
“HE IS GARY BARLOW!” they commented.
Another agreed: “Oh my god. It’s Gary Barlow in the 9os!”

Fellow blondes also brought up the age old saying that blondes have more fun, with one fan welcoming him into ‘the blondes club’.
However, other followers seemed to be pretty distraught that Joe had ditched his ‘dark and handsome’ looks.

One wrote: “Say it isn’t so Joe. Sorry it just isn’t you. Please say it’s for a new role you have.”
“Blonde is not your colour Joe. I prefer your lovely dark curls gorgeous boy. Luv you,” added another.
One outraged fan even told Joe he would ‘sack his hairdresser’ if he had experienced a similar outcome, and another said they hated it so much they ‘could cry’.

It’s just hair guys!
And brunette-fans need not fear, as the singer is likely to be reverting back to his roots when he takes up his role in the Mayflower Theatre in Southhampton’s Dick Whittington panto this December.

He will be starring alongside Steve McFadden, Bobby Davro, Sheila Ferguson, Suzanne Shaw and Andrew Ryan.
He didn’t go blonde? OH YES HE DID.
Sorry, we couldn’t resist.
