The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were both “in tears” before their wedding day, according to a royal expert.
Appearing on Thursday’s This Morning, Camilla Tominey claimed the couple were “distraught” about the behaviour of Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, in the lead up to their big day in May last year.
Her father missed the wedding ostensibly due to a heart condition, but has become estranged from his youngest daughter after giving a series of interviews to media, claiming his daughter “ghosted” him.

He also colluded with paparazzi photographers to stage pictures of himself before her wedding.
Meghan’s half-sister Samantha has also done a string of interviews with the media about her relationship with the Duchess.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Camilla said: “My understanding before the wedding was that the couple were absolutely distraught about his behaviour and what happened.
“To the extent that both of them, and I include Harry in this, were in tears. Literally the day before the wedding.”
She continued: “So I think looking on at it we all know what families are like, I mean the Windsors are as thermonuclear as any.
“So they can understand and empathise, we’ve all looked at this and thought goodness me this is unfortunate, it’s playing out in the media.
“But as I’ve made out, if the Markle’s keep on going to the media they will get an airing. And equally now, is this just fanning the flames of bad publicity?”
It comes after it was reported that Meghan had reached out to her father to try and mend their relationship.
US magazine People spoke to five women who apparently form an essential part of Meghan’s inner circle.
Meghan reportedly wrote to her dad, saying: “Dad, I’m so heartbroken. I love you. I have one father. Please stop victimising me through the media so we can repair our friendship.”

He then reportedly replied asking for a media photo opportunity.
The source added: “He knows how to get in touch with her. He’s never called; he’s never texted. It’s super-painful.”
Another said: “We worry about what this is doing to her and the baby. It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.”
The former actress is preparing to give birth to her first baby this spring.
