Kate Middleton reportedly made a heartwarming and “selfless” gesture to a children’s cancer charity – years before her own diagnosis.
The Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis in a video message earlier this year. Kate admitted her diagnosis following abdominal surgery in January came as a “huge shock.”
Now, it’s been claimed that Kate once donated some of her locks to children battling with cancer.
Kate Middleton made sweet gesture to cancer charity
Princess Kate is famous for her long, chocolate locks – but a source has claimed years ago, that the royal quietly gave away some of her tresses.
It’s been alleged that Kate came up with the idea while she was getting her haircut from her hairdresser Joey Wheeler at Kensington Palace. Apparently, Kate wanted to “do some good” with her hair “rather than throw it away.”
Kate Middleton ‘sent hair under someone else’s name’
After the chop, Kate’s hair was donated to Little Princess Trust. This is charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer.
It was sent using someone else’s name so that the trust didn’t know it was from a royal source
The royal’s locks were not sent to the charity under Kate’s name though. The source told the Sunday Express: “It was sent using someone else’s name so that the trust didn’t know it was from a royal source – they just thought it was from a female donor in the Kensington area.”
Cancer charity ‘completely surprised’ by Kate Middleton gesture
After learning the donation was in fact from the future Queen, the Little Princess Trust said that it was a “great surprise.”
Spokeswoman for the charity, Helen Creese explained: “It’s a complete surprise. We’re all absolutely delighted that she donated her hair, and we’re very grateful as well, just as we’re grateful to everyone who chooses to support the charity in this way, and so many people do. We’re assuming that she might have sent the donation anonymously.”
It’s such a selfless act.
Helen then noted how the charity regularly receives donations that are anonymous. She said: “It’s such a selfless act anyway to donate your hair to help a sick child or young adult.”
The date of the gesture is unknown, but back in July 2017, she rocked a noticeably shorter hairstyle while at Wimbledon.

Kensington Palace statement about Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis
Despite the royal family taking a more open approach to addressing their health in recent months, the type of cancer Kate is being treated for hasn’t been stated. A statement from Kensington Palace explained why. It read: “We will not be sharing any further private medical information.
“The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do. The Princess is now on a recovery pathway having commenced a course of preventive chemotherapy.”
