Kate Middleton reveals what the Christmas season means to her

Christmas is a time when we come together and celebrate the birth of a newborn baby,” The Princess of Wales explained. “The arrival of every baby is a precious and momentous time, it brings us together to reflect on new beginnings and brings hope for the future.”

Kate dedicated this year’s carol service to those who support and uplift children. She also made sure to honour some of the guests who were invited to the service. This included midwives, health visitors, nursery teachers, and baby bank volunteers.

“Only by valuing and supporting the vital role of the adults in a child’s world can we hope to make a difference,” Kate added.

Raising awareness about the significance of a child’s early years, the service was a part of Kate’s Shaping Up campaign.

The programme will feature many familiar faces

While Kate has shared a special intro, the service will feature many familiar faces from all walks of life. The programme will be narrated by Scottish actor Ashley Jensen. However, Rio and Kate Ferdinand, Ugo Monye, Andrea and Virginia Bocelli, and Dame Sheila Hancock will also contribute.

There will be musical performances from the Westminster Abbey choir as well as from notable musicians, including Freya Ridings, James Bay, Beverley Knight, and Adam Lambert.

Grammy-nominated star Jacob Collier will perform a cover of Wham!’s Last Christmas on John Lennon’s piano.

Before wishing viewers a Merry Christmas, Kate shared an inspirational message. Stating that “this is not just making a difference to children today,” she insisted “it will go on to shape a happier, healthier, fairer world in the future”.

The 2023 Royal Family Christmas card

On December 9, the Royal Family Christmas card for 2023 was released. Posing with their three children –  Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and their youngest, Prince Louis, 5 – Kate and Prince William opted for a black-and-white snapshot. While all matching in white long-sleeved shirts, Charlotte sat down on a chair.

The photo saw the happy family smiling directly at the camera lens in front of a plain backdrop. With just under 3 million likes, the upload certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

“Our family Christmas card for 2023,” the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram account wrote.

Photographer Josh Shinner was credited for taking the photo.
