Prince Harry and his new fiancee Meghan Markle have posed for photographers in the grounds of Kensington Palace following the announcement of their engagement this morning.
Meghan, dressed in a chic winter white coat and killer heels, beamed for the cameras alongside her husband-to-be as they held hands.
Upon request, she flashed her diamond engagement ring for us all to see as Harry smiled beside her.
Looking every inch the happy couple, they didn’t let go of each other for a minute – aw!
Harry told watching reporters it was a “romantic proposal”.
ITV News reported that the ring was designed by Harry and has three stones in it. The centre stone is from Botswana, a country that’s special to Harry, and the two outside stones are both from the personal collection of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.
The engagement has been expected for some time, but Clarence House officially announced the new this morning.
They will tie the knot next spring and reside at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London.
The statement read: “His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.
“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
“His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month.
“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family.
“Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents.
Harry’s brother William and his wife Kate have already offered their congratulations.
The Queen and Prince Phillip have extended their joy to the couple via Twitter…
Harry and Meghan began dating 16 months ago after meeting through mutual friends in London, and they went public after six months.
In September of this year, Meghan told Vanity Fair magazine they were “really happy and in love”.
