The Duchess of Sussex reportedly messaged The X Factor winner Matt Cardle months before she met Prince Harry.
Meghan, who is now married to Harry, apparently slid into Matt’s DMs in 2015 after he followed her on Instagram first.
It’s been said that Meghan – who was then appearing in American TV show Suits – followed him back and messaged him to say she was “a big fan of his work”.

A source told The Sun: “Matt followed Meghan initially in early 2015 because he thought she was a beautiful star from Suits.
“But he was stunned when she followed him immediately back and started messaging him. She said she was a big fan of his work.
“Matt couldn’t believe a Hollywood star like Meghan would even know who he was so he was very flattered and they chatted a little bit online before she suggested meeting up.”
The insider added that Matt then met his girlfriend Amber Hernaman and “knew it wasn’t appropriate to keep talking to Meghan so he ended up ghosting her”.
The source said there could have been a “connection” between Meghan and Matt but “the timing as wrong”.
Ent Daily has contacted reps for Matt and the Duchess of Sussex for comment.
Matt is in a serious relationship with Amber – who he said has kept him sober after battling drugs and alcohol addiction following his stint on The X Factor.
Meanwhile, Meghan married Prince Harry in May last year and the couple welcomed their first child together on May 6.
The royal couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary yesterday and marked the occasion in a sweet way.
A video was shared to the couple’s official Instagram page which included a string of stunning photographs from their big day.
The post included one snap of Harry in his uniform alongside brother Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, as he prepared to marry Meghan.
Another showed Meghan walking down the aisle with Harry’s dad Prince Charles.
One showed the newly-wed beaming alongside her mother, Doria Ragland, and another saw the couple with their page boys and bridesmaids.
The video ended with the message: “Thank you for making the memory of this day so special.”
