Queen of American television Oprah Winfrey has revealed she almost made the biggest wedding faux pas possible by wearing a ‘white’ dress to the ceremony.
The image of the star arriving in an elegant pale pink dress could have been very different if she’d worn her original choice of outfit, which was beige.
She ditched it when, the morning before the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, she realised it appeared white in photographs.
Oprah wrote on her Instagram account “Thank you @stellamccartney. Realized Friday morning the beige dress I was planning to wear to Royal ceremony would photograph too “white” for a wedding. Her team did this overnite. Hat is vintage @philiptreacy been in my closet since 2005 with new feathers. OMG this was an extraordinary day.”

Oprah posted the message alongside a video of her in the new outfit thanking the Stella McCartney ‘team’ for “working all night long”.
She told the camara: “I would like to thank the Stella McCartney team for working all night long to get this dress finished, because – dressgate – got the wrong colour, now we have the right colour. Thank you for the detail and for working all night long.”

Fans were quick to praise Oprah’s outfit when she arrived in Windsor as a surprise guest yesterday.
Compliments including “beautiful”, “you look stunning” and “that hat is on point” flooded in as almost 14 million people around the globe viewed her video.
It wasn’t the only mini-crisis Oprah faced though. She appeared to have trouble finding her seat in St George’s chapel.
The media mogul apparently spent a long time speaking to Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who was pictured leaving the star’s US house back in March.
At the time there was speculation Oprah could be interviewing her, but it seems they’ve struck up a genuine friendship.
