The latest royal babe to be christened – Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor – was surrounded by family and close friends at the weekend.
Doting grandfather Prince Charles was in attendance, and eagle-eyed royal watchers spied something: he wore the same flower he has worn to his three out of his four grandchildren’s christenings.
Today, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie was christened at Private Chapel at Windsor Castle.

With the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh unable to attend, the official family photo included Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland, and Princess Diana’s two older sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.
The Mirror reports that Charles was spotted wearing the same buttonhole flower in the left lapel he has been seen wearing during other royal christenings.
The Prince, 70, has worn a Dianthus Devon Wizard to three of his grandchildren’s christenings – Archie, Charlotte and Louis – but was unable to wear one at George’s ceremony because it wasn’t in season.

The flower, thought to be grown on his Highgrove House estate, is said to have a special meaning.
A flower expert told HELLO! magazine, “Dianthus is believed to have derived from the Greek words ‘dios’ meaning God and ‘anthos’ meaning flower – translating as God’s or Divine Flower.
“Although there is lots of speculation about what these symbolise, a significant one is that they are believed to be the flower for maternal and undying love.”

After the ceremony, Prince Harry and Meghan released two sumptuous official photos.
In the more formal family shot, Meghan and Harry paid tribute to his late mother Princess Diana.
In a touching acknowledgement, Diana’s two older sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, were also included into the family group.
Harry, Meghan and Archie were also seen sitting on an ornate, two-seat green sofa with gold detail.
It’s the same chair that Diana and the Queen sat on in the official photos from Harry’s christening.
