Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hit back at reports they ‘didn’t ask’ the Queen if they could name their daughter Lilibet.
Baby Lili, who was born on June 4, is named after Her Majesty as her family nickname is Lilibet.
However, reports claimed that a palace source said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “never asked” the Queen about using the name.
Prince Harry and Meghan hit back
A spokesperson for the couple told the BBC: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor.
“Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”
It came after a royal biographer believed Meghan and Harry naming their daughter Lilibet was “rude” and “demeaning”.
Angela Levin said on Good Morning Britain earlier this week: “I don’t think it’s a good idea, I think it’s quite rude to her Majesty the Queen.
“It was a very private nickname from her husband [Prince Philip] who hasn’t been dead for very long.”
In addition, she added: “Prince Charles would never dream of referring to his mother as Lilibet.
“It was a special name [for] the Duke of Edinburgh. I think it’s quite demeaning.”
What did Meghan and Harry say about Lilibet’s name?
A statement on the couple’s Archewell website said: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.
During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honor.
“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
Meanwhile, reports have claimed Her Majesty has already met Lilibet over Zoom.
A source told PEOPLE that Meghan and Harry “were very excited and couldn’t wait to share that their daughter arrived”.
