Prince Harry has called for the public to stop using the term Megxit, after being created by trolls against his wife Meghan Markle.
Megxit refers to the Sussexes’ controversial decision to quit royal duties.
But as he took part in Wired magazine’s RE:WIRED virtual summit, Harry slammed the “misogynistic” phrase.

During the RE:WIRED event, Harry claimed that a troll invented the term.
He said: “70 per cent of the hate speech about my wife on Twitter can be traced to fewer than 50 accounts.
“Perhaps the most troubling part of this is the number of British journalists interacting and amplifying the hate and the lies. They regurgitate these lies as truth.”
It began with a troll
In addition, Harry added: “In fact, the term ‘Megxit’ was or is a misogynistic term and it was created by a troll, amplified by royal correspondents and it grew and grew and grew onto mainstream media…
“But it began with a troll.”
Furthermore, Harry also took a shot at the press as he highlighted the dangers of misinformation.

“I know the story all too well,” he explained.
“I lost my mother to this self-manufactured rabidness and obviously I am determined not to lose the mother to my children to the same thing.”
Naturally, Harry’s comments have caused quite a stir.
How did royal fans react?
Many took to social media to comment on the Duke’s latest public appearance.
On Twitter, one said: “Megxit might be a slur, but it implies that Megan is the more powerful one of the couple, she wanted to leave and Prince Harry went with her. How can that be misogynistic?”
A second added: “Have these two got an insecurity complex? It does seem that they cannot survive without public and media attention. Maybe @PHarry_Meghan will get another interview with Oprah, and bore us all to death again.”

Well that’s actually it, it’s a minor thing but I see what he’s saying, it’s using her name, the woman, to imply it’s her decision, her action which was a piece of the whole ‘That Meg is corrupting our ‘Arry!’ narrative.

In addition, a third wrote: “Megxit was a play on words, based on Brexit. If he thinks it’s misogynistic then maybe we should change it to Hegxit to make it more inclusive.”
However, one appeared to defend Harry and Meghan.

The user wrote: “I feel so sad for how Meghan was treated. I’ve been fighting these trolls for a long time. The ‘decent’ media waited too long to get involved. I’m glad more people are speaking out in support of Meghan.”
Meanwhile, Good Morning Britain host Judge Rinder also weighed in on Harry’s comments on the show today (November 10).
