The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be “relieved” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are skipping Christmas with the royals, a report has claimed.
According to Closer Weekly, Prince William reckons his younger sibling and his wife could do with a break from the spotlight after the birth of son Archie and several months of unsympathetic headlines.
Tabloid reports reckon the couple will remain in Los Angeles with Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland over the festive period, having flown over for Thanksgiving this week.
However, it is also suggested that while Wills accepts Prince Harry‘s controversial decision to remain in the US rather than head for Sandringham – as is traditional for the royals – he could also find it unusual not spending Christmas Day in the company of his brother.

An unnamed friend is reported as saying about Harry and Meghan Markle: “William and Kate are somewhat relieved that they won’t be at Sandringham.
“William does, however, feel that it’ll be strange not having his brother around.”

It was reported last week that Buckingham Palace aides are concerned the Sussexes may be affected by ‘burnout’.
The Sunday Telegraph claimed the couple had been urged to ‘slow down’ – particularly as it is thought neither took much of a break in a very busy year which has seen them become parents for the first time.

They also embarked on a demanding tour of Africa earlier in the autumn and have faced intense press scrutiny over their living arrangements at Frogmore Cottage and decisions surrounding Archie’s Christening.
The royal family’s festive routine at the Queen’s Norfolk estate is well established and sees them attending a morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church after breakfast.
It is thought Harry has missed only one family Christmas before – in 2012, when he was stationed with the army in Afghanistan.
He fuelled rumours of a rift with his brother last month when he admitted during an ITV documentary that they are on “different paths” and have “good days and bad days”.
