The two beautiful images were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released two adorable photos of their newborn son, Prince Louis.

In one image, the little prince has his eyes closed and looks content as he is cuddled by big sister Princess Charlotte, three, who plants a tender kiss on his forehead.

Another snap shows Louis, clad in all-white, looking alert as he rests against a white cushion. He was just three days old when the picture was taken.

Both photographs were taken by mum Kate, who is known to be a keen photographer and has taken other pictures of her children that have been released to the public.

Kensington Palace said: “‪The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace.‬ ‪

Royal fans, naturally, adored the rare glimpse at the Cambridge children.

It marks the first time we’ve seen Prince Louis since his proud parents took him home from the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London two weeks ago.

One admirer wrote on Instagram: “This is an awesome picture! The Duchess really has a talent for photography.”

Another said: “So cute 💖💖 and the Duchess is so talented, what a great pic! The colours, the blur… love it!”

A third added: “There beautiful children, each child is a blessing.God bless you, with a beautiful family.”

Others questioned why the siblings’ elder brother Prince George, four, was not present in either photograph.

However, it seems likely Kate chose to focus on her two youngest kids as the pics were released to mark Charlotte’s third birthday last week, and Louis’ birth last month.

The image of Charlotte planting a kiss on Louis’s forehead echoes the first photos released of Charlotte back in 2015, where she was seen being given a kiss by George.

Those images were also taken by Kate.

Louis Arthur Charles, who will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, was born on April 23.

He is fifth in line to the throne.

It is unclear when Prince Louis will next be seen in public.

Royal experts have predicted that the Duke and Duchess will keep the tiny tot away from the limelight at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19.

Louis will be just one month old on the day of the wedding, so it’s suggested he’ll be cared for by the family nanny as the service is in progress, rather than seen on camera.
