Sir David Attenborough had a thoughtful gift for Prince George as he joined his dad William for a film night – but Princess Charlotte was the most excited of them all.
The legendary broadcaster was at Kensington Palace this weekend for a special viewing of his upcoming documentary, David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet.
What did Sir David Attenborough do at Kensington Palace?
Sir David watched the film, in which he goes over some of the defining moments of his career as a naturalist, via a private outdoor screening with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
While with the family, the documentary maker presented their son, Prince George, with a gift.

He gave the youngster a fossilised giant tooth from an extinct shark, which he himself found in the 1960s.
In pictures shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram page, Prince George looks fascinated with the unusual present as he turns it over in his hands.
The caption explained: “Sir David found the tooth on a family holiday to Malta in the late 1960s, embedded in the island’s soft yellow limestone which was laid down during the Miocene period some 23 million years ago.

“Carcharocles is believed to have grown to 15 metres in length, which is about twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark alive today.”
Sir David found the tooth on a family holiday to Malta in the late 1960s.
One of their fans on Instagram said: “Prince William and Kate know that David Attenborough is a force for change. The type of role model their children need. I love this for so many reasons.”
Another said: “I like that while George is royal, he is also a little boy who probably delights in gifts like this one.”
“Ahh love this little family so much,” a third wrote.
Fans also noted Princess Charlotte’s adorable reaction to seeing Sir David. In the photos, she looks the most excited off the Cambridges’ three children.
In a recent trailer for ITV’s upcoming documentary, Prince William: A Planet For Us All, due to air next month, Kate explains that the TV legend is their kids’ favourite.
She says: “The children were very upset that we were coming to see you and they weren’t coming. They’re massive fans of yours.”
Sir David and Prince William are both passionate about environmental issues, a subject in the new film.

Last year, the pair appeared together in conversation at Davos. While there, they discussed the scale and urgency of today’s climate and nature crisis.
They continue to support each other in tackling some of the biggest environmental challenges the planet is currently facing.

They are also working together on The Earthshot Prize. Details of the collaboration will come out in the coming weeks.
David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet will hit cinemas on Monday (September 28) before arriving on Netflix on October 4.
