The Queen ‘will take comfort in nation’s affections’ on Prince Philip’s birthday

Tomorrow will mark the 100th birthday of Prince Philip, and a royal expert has said the Queen will take comfort in the nation’s affections.

The Duke of Edinburgh died in April at the age of 99 and Thursday (June 10) will mark what would have been his 100th birthday.

Experts say Her Majesty, 95, will receive support from her family on the day.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Entertainment Daily!: “This will also be a time for the nation to remember Prince Philip.

“His funeral was carried out impeccably and, it was thought, as he would have wished.

“His legacies include his Awards Scheme which has benefited so many millions worldwide.”

In addition, Mr Fitzwilliams added: “He always wanted the minimum of fuss, insisting that he got on with the job and did his best.

“However his memory will have a very special place in the nation’s affections and the Queen will, I am sure, take comfort from this.

“His superhuman energy and tireless zeal in supporting the Queen and the institution of monarchy are, however, irreplaceable.”

Meanwhile, according to another royal expert, the Queen may enjoy a Zoom call with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their newborn daughter Lilibet on Thursday.

Charles Rae told us: “I would also not be surprised if the couple do a zoom call on the day where Her Majesty will be able to see her new great granddaughter Lilibet.”

Philip died “peacefully” at Windsor Castle on April 9. His funeral took place a week later on April 17 at St George’s Chapel.

Meanwhile, the Queen sat alone during the service due to COVID-19 regulations.
