Corrie legend Beverley Callard has made a shocking admission about the ITV soap – she can’t bear to watch it.
In fact, Bev – who has played Liz McDonald since 1989 – has admitted watching the show is like “torture”.
Even more surprisingly, perhaps, the 61-year-old actress prefers to tune into rival shows EastEnders and Emmerdale…
We hope her bosses aren’t reading this!

Talking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning, Bev explained: “Honestly, I love Coronation Street obviously, or otherwise I wouldn’t work here.
“But I just can’t watch myself and I know most of the viewers are saying we don’t like watching you either.
“I love Emmerdale and EastEnders and they all watch Corrie, but I can’t watch it – it’s torture!”

The popular soap star continued: “It’s the worst feeling, it’s like a normal person hearing their voice that has been recorded; it’s like that but magnified beyond belief.”
Bev’s character Liz is currently at the centre of a huge storyline surrounding her husband Jim McDonald, and their ‘dead daughter’ Hannah.
Viewers know that Liz is being scammed by her ex- and his fraudster lover, who just want her money.
Despite the drama on-screen, however, Bev told the ITV hosts that she has loved being reunited with Charles Lawson who plays Jim.

She gushed: “Charlie and I love working together and when he came back we just instantly fit. Working with Charlie is like Beverley putting her slippers on – I love working with him.
“We get the giggles constantly… We’re in big trouble constantly; it’s a nightmare!”
The actress also hinted that there are lots more twists and turns to come for her character.
After admitting that she “wasn’t too sure” about her current storyline at first, she went on to say: “But the way they’ve done it and the way that they are doing it, there are more twists and turns and it’s so wonderful as an actress to play.”
Revealing why Liz has been so sucked in by her imposter daughter, Bev said: “She’s so vulnerable as well because of the Liz and Johnny thing, and she’s feeling very dejected and lonely.
“And of course, there’s this attraction with Liz and Jim and they cannot fight that at all.”
Actor Charles was due to join the show for a longer period, but scriptwriters had to hastily rewrite the controversial storyline.
