Actor Bryan Marshall has died at the age of 81, after a long and respected career in TV and film.
The British star, who emigrated to Australia in his forties, starred in both Home And Away and Neighbours during his 50 years in showbusiness.
He also appeared in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, and 1980’s The Long Good Friday opposite Bob Hoskins.

His death was confirmed today (June 26) by his agent Esta Charkham, who wrote: “So sad that my dear old chum Bryan Marshall has gone on ahead.
“A wonderful actor – he was so good you never noticed how good he was. He was a valued chum. His credits are a catalogue of classic British and Australian TV. Fare Forward Dearest Bryan!”
Fans were quick to express their deepest sympathies, with one saying: “Sad news, I can clearly remember him from the 80s when he played the evil psychiatrist in Prisoner Cell Block H. Rest in peace.”

Another said: “Was there a British TV programme he wasn’t in? R.I.P.”
A third lamented: “What sad news, a real favourite in our household growing up. May he rest in peace.”
“I can’t believe he’s gone,” said another. “Totally under-utilised and underrated actor, loved him.”
Bryan was a familiar face in British TV dramas including The Sweeney, The Forsyte Saga, Vanity Fair and Persuasion.
Soap fans will know him as Gerard Singer in Neighbours, who had an affair with Helen Daniels, even though he was engaged to her daughter Rosemary.
More recently, he appeared as Trevor Bardwell in Home And Away.
Trevor was a classmate of Irene’s at TAFE, who took a shine to her…
He asked her out on a date shortly after they met, but Irene turned him down.
A few weeks later, however, Irene changed her mind and arranged a date with Trevor and the pair got on well – until he realised she was just using him to make Paris jealous…
His most recent role was in 2012 as Cora’s Uncle in Aussie comedy A Moody Christmas.
Born in London’s Battersea, Bryan began his acting career in the 1960s with a breakout role in Alfie alongside Michael Caine.
He went on to star as Councillor Harris in The Long Good Friday, but he will also be remembered for playing Commander Talbot in The Spy Who Loved Me.
His character in the Bond hit saw his submarine, HMS Ranger, captured at the start of the film, before later being freed by Roger Moore’s 007.
