Despite being separated and Liz McDonald in a relationship with Colin Barnes, Jim McDonald is thrilled after spending the night with his estranged wife.
Colin, who works with Liz too, resigns from the pub after finding out what she did.

With tearaway teen Tracy Barlow secretly dating van driver Craig Lee her mum Deirdre Barlow is stunned to find Tracy has packed her bags and gone.
Dad Ken Barlow is horrified at the thought of Tracy living with a 22-year-old.
Liz has family trouble as Andy’s girlfriend Amy asks Liz to give them her blessing to get married.

Jenny Bradley has returned with her dog, Mitzi, who has gone missing and she knows Robert Weston took her.
But Rita soon works out Mitzi was Robert’s dog in the first place and scheming Jenny stole her!
Ken is sad for Deirdre after Tracy’s latest stunt and urges his daughter not to hurt her mum.
Deirdre breaks down over everything that’s happened.

Jim tells Denise Osbourne he does not know where he stands with Liz.
Denise soon offers him some advice and he realises what Liz’s game is.
Ken meets Craig at Tracy’s flat.

After Jenny cooks Rita a special meal, the shop owner is stunned when Jenny asks for a loan of £30,000.
She wants the money to open her own beauty salon.

Alf Roberts proudly opens the mini market again, but things take a turn when he gets drunk on his free wine!
Under the influence, he then propositions Rita and tells her he’ll leave Audrey for her!

A hungover and embarrassed Alf apologises to Rita for the night before.
She tells him they should forget all about it.
Vicar Bernard gets to know Emily better.
She opens up and tells him all about her late husband, Ernie.

Ken and Deidre spend the whole night talking, and she is upset to hear Tracy is willing to meet Ken, but not her.
Ken assures Deirdre Tracy will get bored and come home eventually.
Bernard tells Emily that he is doubting his faith.
She offers comfort by talking about his humanity.
Friday October 11, 2.50pm
Liz is horrified to receive Jim’s divorce petition citing unreasonable behaviour.
Don is jealous to see Denise and Jim talking together, but Denise is worried when Jim thanks her for her advice.
She tells Jim to leave her out of his divorce.
Friday October 11 3.20pm
Tanya spreads it around that Jim is divorcing Liz.
Bet suggests to Liz that she fights Jim at his own game, but Liz has no idea Jim doesn’t want a divorce at all.
