Fans wondering where Coronation Street‘s Audrey Roberts has disappeared to finally have their answer.
Actress Sue Nicholls had to be written out of the soap at the last minute after falling and breaking her collar bone at home.
Audrey has been missing from scenes in the soap and has only appeared sporadically for some weeks now.
“I live in a tiny flat and Mark [Eden, her husband] goes to bed much earlier than me,” she told The Mirror.
“I was creeping around in the dark after taking my face off at about 11 o’clock and sat on the side of the bed. But I missed the bed and fell over.”

The actress also revealed she had to undergo surgery on her broken collar bone and miss work.
She added: “I had to have an operation, be written out of some scenes and take time off – which I hate doing as I don’t like letting people down but everyone was so lovely.
“This all happened after I got my Outstanding Achievement Award [at the 2019 British Soap Awards] – serves me right for being big-headed!”
Sue has been in the soap for 40 years and she added how she has no plans to leave the cobbles any time soon.
She even joked that she would lock herself in the salon if bosses ever tried to get rid of Audrey or her beloved salon.
She said: “If they’ll have me, I’d love to be here in 10 years’ time because I like playing her.

“There’s lots to achieve yet, so if I get the sack I’ll lock myself in Audrey’s salon and refuse to leave.”
Next year the soap will celebrate its 60th anniversary with the likes of longstanding actors Sue, Bill Roache and Barbara Knox still at the forefront of the show.
