The detective sergeant has made several appearances in the soap since she was first introduced in 2016.
She originally came in as a detective investigating Maria Connor over the disappearance of her flatmate Caz Hammond.
Mackinnon had Maria arrested as she believed she had murdered Caz.

However, Aidan and Kate Connor were able to prove that Caz was still alive and had framed Maria as revenge for being evicted from the flat.
She also investigated the attempted murder of Ken Barlow in 2017 and began looking into his closest relatives including his children, Simon Barlow, Tracy Barlow and Daniel Osbourne.

She then made several appearances in the show last year as she investigated the crash which left Roman Truman dead and Ryan Connor and Leanne Battersby fighting for their lives.
Although Sandra is well know for her role in Coronation Street, she has had roles in several hit TV shows including Casualty, Doctors and Channel 5’s Family Affairs.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
