Coronation Street fans ‘in awe’ of Katie McGlynn as Sinead films video messages for Bertie

She dies tonight

Dying Sinead Tinker recorded a video message for her baby son Bertie last night, and the emotional scenes left Coronation Street viewers “broken”.

On Thursday (October 24), the ITV soap gave fans an extra episode in preparation for devastating scenes on Friday (October 25) when Sinead passes away.

And after the episode aired, those watching from home expressed their “awe” at actress Katie McGlynn’s performance.

During highly emotive scenes, a desperately sick Sinead poured her heart out in a video message to her son Bertie, who will grow up without his mum.

Weeping tears of regret, Sinead told her son how devastated she was that she would be missing his first day at school, his birthdays, and his wedding.

She told him to be himself and to be kind, saying: “If I’ve learnt one thing in my 25 years on this planet, nice can change the world.”

The episode also saw her reunited with husband Daniel, who she chose to forgive after his recent betrayal.

With just hours left together, Sinead put her anger to one side over Daniel and Bethany’s kiss, and told him he was her “home”.

As the pair decided to cherish their precious last moments together, those watching from home shed real tears and praised actress Katie McGlynn for her moving portrayal of Sinead.

As the actress paid tribute to her character with an Instagram post to her 231,000 followers, one fan replied with the message: “I’m just in awe of your acting and you really have touched my heart. Well done.”

Another said: “I watched you on Loose Women the other day and you said you hoped Corrie was making a difference and raising awareness! You absolutely are. Fantastic acting tonight. You should be very proud.”

A third added: “I hope you win an award for this storyline. You are a fantastic actress and I’m going to miss Sinead so much! I’ve cried buckets tonight! Good luck with your future, it’s going to be huge!”

“Simply outstanding acting Katie! You have us all gripped and emotional. It’s a shame you have to go,” said one more.

Over on Twitter one fan said: “Oh my god Corrie has well and truly hit me in the heart. Katie McGlynn deserves every award going for her performance. My heart sincerely goes out to everyone in Sinead’s situation.”

Another tweeted: “Outstanding performance from the actors. I’m sitting in floods of tears watching tonight’s episode of @itvcorrie. Lord help me tomorrow night. Corrie at its best.”

A third wrote: “I’m 45. I’m pretty rational (I think!), and reasonably intelligent (I hope!). I can differentiate between a character and an actor. Why, then, am I weeping for Sinead? Possibly because this is the finest performance, and these are the most moving scenes in Corrie‘s history.”
