It’s the week Coronation Street fans were looking forward to… A series of special post-watershed episodes in which some of the most dramatic storylines of the past few months promised to come to a head.
But some viewers have been left disappointed.

To coincide with Britain’s Got Talent’s live semi-finals, Corrie has been airing at 9pm every night, in between the performances and the results show.
As well as complaints about the soap running consistently late, viewers have accused the ITV soap of not living up to the hype.
Although there has been some moments of genius – Sally Metcalfe’s naughty innuendo, for example, or Audrey Roberts slapping grandson Nick Tilsley around the face – Digital Spy Forum users have said the week has ‘fallen flat’.

Writing on the website, one self-confessed soap addict typed: “I have found this week’s episodes very poor in comparison with other BGT week episodes.
“Usually they are highly dramatic, but there has been too much comedy. Audrey finding out about her grandson’s fraud has been okay, but could have been better.”
Another agreed, saying: “Well it’s not quite over yet, but it normally falls flat compared to what we are promised.
“The one bonus is that the stories haven’t involved Gemma and Chesney.”
A third commented: “Couldn’t agree more. This week has been so poor. Producer Iain MacLeod needs to go pronto!”
“BGT has nearly always been a week of filler and pointless cliffhangers leading to the Friday episode,” fumed one more.
Others suggested that next year’s BGT big week should swap and have Emmerdale at 9pm, and Corrie at 7pm to “shake it up a bit”.
Friday’s episode (May 31) saw Carla Connor have a psychotic episode and hallucinate visions of Hayley Cropper, Rana Habeeb and Aidan Connor.
But while viewers heaped praise on Alison King for her stunning performance, they still weren’t impressed with the episode as a whole.
One wrote: “Alison King gave what is probably one of her best ever performances, but it wasn’t a great episode. A bad episode to finish off a terrible week.”
Others on Twitter didn’t agree, though, and thought the episode was brilliant.
#Corrie has been killing me with this storyline🤧😩 Both Carla & Peter are unbelievably amazing!!!! This intense and different view to mental health is definitely needed

Carla’s storyline in @itvcorrie has been so brilliantly written and performed. Carla, that classic strong Corrie woman, having an episode of psychosis proving that mental illness can affect ANYONE.
Fantastic & important TV.— Rae Earl (@RaeEarl) 1 June 2019
