Coronation Street fans will know Alison King as the fiery businesswoman Carla Connor who first stepped onto the cobbles in 2006.
Carla has recently been involved in the Underworld roof collapse.
She was told that the factory roof was unstable but refused to get it fixed because of the cost.
However, when the roof came down it killed her sister Kate’s fiancee Rana.

Unable to keep it secret after Robert named and shamed her, Carla confessed to Kate she knew that the roof wasn’t stable.
In Monday night’s episode (April 8), viewers started to see Carla’s mental health deteriorate. Things got even worse when she received an online message from ‘Rana’ telling her: “You destroy everything you touch.”
The message turned out to be from Alya who wanted to make her pay and give Rana justice. However, Carla believes she’s being spied on and her paranoia is getting worse.

Viewers on a Digital Spy forum have asked the question, as these heartrending scenes build momentum: “Is Alison King one of the best soap actresses ever?”
The original post from a user named doctorwhofancal “Been rewatching a lot of old Carla scenes tonight on YouTube and it just added to how fantastic an actress I think Alison King is. Over the years she’s been given some pretty shocking scripts but played each storyline amazingly.
“From her arrival and romances with Paul and Liam through the patch of Tony Gordon, Frank Foster and her rape as well as her whole love story with Peter, losing her baby, her alcoholism, her friendships with Roy, Hayley and Sally – I think she’s fab.
“In answer to my question, I think she is one of the best actresses in the soap. What do you?” [sic]

The user then posted a link to a compilation of Carla Connor’s best moments.
Some users agreed with the original post.
One wrote: “She shines when she comforts others and has to put on a brave face. Hayley when she had cancer springs to mind.”
Adding to that, another user put: “My personal favourite scenes of Carla was when Sally confided in her about her breast cancer.”
A third user put: “She’s not one of the best, she is the best actress in any serial drama.”
A fourth wrote: “I do think she is one of Corrie’s greatest current assets in terms of acting, even if the writing for Carla has been [expletive] at times over the past few years.”

A lot of viewers on Twitter have agreed.
Awww I absolutely love Alison king she is playing carla mental breakdown so amazingly. It is hard work having mental health let alone acting it. I applaud you 👏👏 #corrie #carla #MentalHealthMatters

However, other users in the forum have said whilst she is an asset to the show, her character Carla can be “annoying”.
One wrote: “She’s a high class actress but her character is annoying, she always has to interfere in everything. Very similar to Peter and Nick. That’s why she takes up all the screen time and prevents new characters from developing.
“Really they need to mind their own damn business. For example, Carla interfering with Roy’s life and how he grieves for his mother.” [sic]
A second put: “She’s good but there’s plenty of others even now who i rate as highly if they were given the material she’s given, and certainly there have been others in the past!!” [sic]
A third wrote: “I don’t have much time for Carla but I don’t think anyone can deny that Ali King is an asset to the show.”
