Nothing ever goes to plan where Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown are involved, and next week’s Coronation Street is no exception when Gemma goes into labour in a cable car whilst suspended in mid air.
Gemma and Chesney have been waiting with baited breath for their quads to arrive, and after Sinead’s untimely death, Chesney has been thinking that maybe they should stop wasting time and make things official between them again.
Deciding that he is going to ask Gemma to marry him, Chesney puts his plan into action and whisks her off to Wales to escape the media attention they have been getting at home.
Thinking that some time alone just the two of them will give him the chance to get down on one knee before the babies arrive, Chesney is excited about proposing.
However as they’re suspended in mid-air in the cable car, Chesney pops the question just as Gemma goes into labour and the dad-to-be is forced to pull the emergency break.
As the cable car swings in the breeze, Gemma’s contractions get stronger and it looks like the babies are about to arrive up in the Welsh clouds… but will the emergency services get to the pair before it’s too late?
The babies thankfully arrive in one piece and later at the hospital Gemma can’t help but stare at her four little ones in awe.
The reality of being a new mum soon hits but, as Gemma struggles to express milk, Chesney is by her side offering his support.
However the reality of having four babies to care for leaves the new mum terrified when the doctors tell her that she is being discharged from hospital care, while the little ones have to stay put in the Welsh hospital.
But just when Gemma thought the stress of having her babies in a hospital so far from home was too much, Bernie goes to add to her daughter’s drama when she creates an Instagram page for the quads without permission.
Even the news that she and Chesney have been booked into a nearby hotel so that they can be near the babies isn’t enough to put a smile on Gemma’s face, and she is soon worried about how she is going to cope with everything.
Thankfully Cathy comes to the rescue and she reveals to Gemma that she has stuck up a deal with a local swanky hotel.

Chesney and Gemma are shocked when Cathy reveals they can use a room for as long as they need as long as the hotel can use the ‘Cable Car Quads’ in their promotions.
But as the reality of having four babies to look after sets in, will Gemma ad Chesney be able to juggle being parents to quads who are miles away from home?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
