Coronation Street star Patti Clare, who plays Mary Taylor, has called for Ben Shephard to make a cameo.
Last month, viewers learnt that Mary has a big crush on Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard.
In hilarious scenes, Mary showed off her new blanket to her housemate Sean, revealing it has Ben’s face printed all over it.
However, Patti has now called for Ben to make an appearance on the ITV soap.
Speaking to Inside Soap the actress said: “We have to get him on! Ben could be passing through, and pop into Preston’s Petals to buy some flowers, just as Mary is having a really bad day.
Ben could be passing through, and pop into Preston’s Petals to buy some flowers.
“But nobody will believe her when she says he’s been there.”
Patti also talked about the idea of Mary and Sean appearing on Tipping Point – a game show hosted by Ben.
She added: “Well Antony Cotton had a brilliant idea where Sean and Mary go on Tipping Point and it all turns ugly as Mary becomes very possessive of Ben.”
Patti said the “producers got excited about the idea, but unfortunately it would be difficult to film”.
However, she added that Tipping Point producers have invited her on as herself this October for a “charity version of the show”.
Coronation Street: Ben Shepard’s reaction to Mary
Before Ben’s blanket appeared on Corrie, Patti appeared on GMB with Ben and Kate Garraway to talk about Mary’s crush.
Ben said: “Patti I’m thrilled to bits, I’m very flattered as well that someone who is as discerning as Mary would feel like I can offer some sort of solace in these times of need, such uncertainty.”
Patti responded: “In Mary’s world, being embraced by Ben is just her idea of heaven. So she’s put two and two together and come up with 10 and I think it’s a brilliant idea.
“So she could get a chain going of Ben products, anyway the blanket is a beginning.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
