Coronation Street star Sam Aston and his wife Briony have welcomed a baby boy into the world – six weeks before his due date.
The Coronation Street actor, who plays father-of-five Chesney Brown, took to Instagram to share a picture of their little one, who weighed 5lbs 7oz when he was born, and revealed they have named their bundle of joy Sonny.

He wrote: “Welcome to the world little man. Our little ray of sunshine.
“Sonny James Aston (sic)”
Yoga teacher Briony revealed little Sonny was born six weeks early on August 11th.

She shared the same picture, and added the caption: “Sonny Aston
“He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lbs 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love (sic)”
Several of Sam’s ‘Corrie’ co-stars congratulated him and Briony on Sonny’s birth.
Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor) wrote: “Ahh fabulous news Sam! Congratulations to you and Briony he is beautiful (sic)”
Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan) posted: “How amazing, congratulations to you both!! (sic)”
Alan Halsall – who plays Tyrone Dobbs – joked August 11th is a “great day to be born”, as it happens to also be his birthday.
He wrote: “Welcome Sonny!
“Sooooo happy for you. what a great day to be born (sic)”
Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) shared: “Aw Sam congratulations to you both , he’s beautiful x (sic)”
The couple announced in May they were to be parents for the first time, and in June the 27-year-old soap star revealed they were expecting a baby boy.
He said: “We’re having a boy! It was a massive surprise when we found out, as there are loads of girls in our families, so we were adamant we were having a girl.”
