Viewers of ITV’s Coronation Street are furious at Leanne Battersby as she stands behind boyfriend Nick Tilsley, knowing he was behind stealing his grandmother Audrey Roberts’ money.
It was a devastating start to the year for Audrey. After she discovered her partner, ex-conman Lewis, dead on the floor, a couple of days later, she found £80K had been taken from her bank account.
The money was left to Audrey by her old friend Archie Shuttleworth who had passed away shortly before.
Poor Audrey was left thinking that Lewis was still the same old conman, however, viewers soon discovered Nick had stolen the money with help from an ex-employee from his bar in Nottingham, Natalie.
Nick’s half brother David Platt discovered the truth and blackmailed Nick into buying him the barbers, Trim Up North.
A couple of weeks ago, whilst the Platts were away on holiday, Gail looked at Natalie’s social media and recognised her tattoo from the CCTV footage of the money being stolen.
Realising the game was over, David confessed his part to Audrey and the rest of his family.

Despite David telling the truth, Nick pushed David to confess to stealing the money. In return Nick offered to sign over his half of the barbers to his brother.
David decided he didn’t want to go along with Nick’s lies, but let his sibling sign over the barbers first before telling police the truth. David then put the barbers in Audrey’s name.
Although Nick tried to make out to Leanne that David was the mastermind behind the theft, she saw right through him, but decided to let him stay.

In last night’s episodes (Monday June 10) Leanne tried to help Nick out by getting Natalie on side.
But when Natalie also refused to lie, Leanne got Natalie to leave the country, leaving David stuck.
Viewers have become fed up with Leanne siding with Nick, knowing that he is lying to protect himself.

Coronation Street is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
