Coronation Street viewers furious over fake shooting for Peter Barlow

It makes for a change viewers being angry that there wasn't more blood

Coronation Street viewers have been left furious after the dramatic shooting in last night’s episode proved to be anything but.

Spoiler pictures had been released showing one of the gang members taking aim at Peter Barlow with a hand gun.

The dramatic shots were accompanied by words promising horror as Peter was shot in the chest by the evil thugs.

But in last night’s episodes, things didn’t play out that way.

As Simon Barlow was left terrified in the factory with the gang tormenting him, Peter raced over to protect his son.

And as he got there a car rolled past slowly with one of the gang holding a gun out of the window and taking aim.

Peter looked horrified as the trigger was pulled and he was soon covered with blood red liquid on his chest.

However, he told a terrified Carla Connor: “It’s paint, it’s just a paint gun.”

The scene was a let-down, and viewers were furious, flocking to social media to share their views.

One wrote: “A paint gun? Seriously!? Fail. #Corrie”

A second commented: ““ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! A PAINT GUN??

“All that wait for a paint gun to be shot. Unimpressed.”

Another tweeted: “All that wait for it being a paint gun that shot barlow haha cheers #Corrie”

A fourth wrote: “A paint gun! They really made this out to be more than it was #Corrie”

However, the paint gun drama wasn’t over, with Simon receiving a text at the end of the episode with a new threat from the gang.

The text read: “Next time, it’ll be a real bullet.”

As one fan put it: “Next time it won’t be paint. It’ll be soggy paper.

“And then it’ll be potatoes for a drive-by spudding. #corrie @itvcorrie.”
