Coronation Street viewers stunned to hear what Daisy actress Charlotte Jordan sounds like in real life

'Oh isn't she well-spoken,' said one fan

Viewers of Coronation Street were left stunned after actress Charlotte Jordan accepted her British Soap Award when the ceremony aired on ITV last night. They couldn’t believe it was the Daisy Midgeley actress they were hearing.

Charlotte, who deservedly bagged herself Best Dramatic Performance at the glizty award ceremony, got everyone talking during her acceptance speech. But it wasn’t what she said – it was how she said it!

The actress hails from Surrey originally and it turns out her accent as Daisy is a far cry from her own voice.

Fans stunned at Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan’s accent

Taking to the stage after being announced as the winner of the gong, Charlotte first made a joke about being nervous of public speaking.

She said she was “Really gobsmacked” and she “really wasn’t expecting it”. Charlotte then went on to thank her on-screen partners, Ryan Prescott, Rob Mallard, and Andrew Still, as well as the whole Coronation Street team. She also thanked the fans.

“What else do you say?” she finished. “Our crew is wonderful, our fans are wonderful, I can’t believe it. Thank you very much.”

As she exited the stage after the speech, fans took to Twitter to reveal their surprise.

“Charlotte Jordan deserves every award purely based off the fact that her Manchester accent is unreal??? I am so confused as to how she’s actually that posh,” wrote one.

Another agreed: “Hearing the actress who plays Daisy in Corrie speak in her own accent is so strange! Had to look up where she’s from; Surrey!”

“Totally shocked at how different Charlotte Jordan sounds to her character Daisy in Corrie but she’s fabulous nevertheless. Well deserved award!” said one more.

Charlotte on Loose Women

It’s not the first time viewers have been surprised by Charlotte’s real-life voice. When the actress appeared on Loose Women back in March, fans were shocked by her ‘real’ accent then too.

Charlotte appeared on the talk show to discuss her part in the soap’s acid attack storyline. After being harassed by stalker Justin, barmaid Daisy became victim of a horrifying acid attack. However, it was Ryan Connor who took the full force of the attack.

On Monday (June 5) Justin was found guilty in court and is now awaiting sentencing. It’s this storyline for which Charlotte was awarded her British Soap Award.

As the Loose Women interview aired, viewers expressed their surprise at the differences between Charlotte and her character. Writing on Instagram (where the interview was also shared), fans shared their sense of shock.

“Oh isn’t she well spoken. Lovely voice,” commented one Instagram user.

“She sounds so different speaking as herself!” exclaimed another.

“Sounds so much more ‘Southern’ than her character,” wrote a third fan.

Charlotte Jordan thanks her fans for support

As the storyline aired, Charlotte thanked her fans for their support of her performance and the ‘important’ story. Writing on Instagram on Tuesday, she shared a series of posts, praising the fans and also her colleagues at Corrie.

She captioned the pictures: “Feel quite overwhelmed with all the messages about last night’s Corrie. So many people to thank for delivering episodes on such a sensitive and unfortunately, prevalent subject matter. It really is a team effort and wanted to say thank you for watching, even when it’s hard.”
