Ian Bartholomew, who plays Geoff Metcalfe in Coronation Street would’ve been a professional gambler if he hadn’t become an actor.
The cobbles star reckons he could’ve stood a chance at making a profession out of playing poker, and believes it would’ve been “a lot of fun” betting for a living.

He said: “Having done Guys and Dolls a lot, I think I’d quite like to have been a professional gambler.
“I’m a poker player, so it would have been a lot of fun to play poker professionally.”
As well as poker, Ian also has a penchant for cricket – and would like to play one of the sportsmen in a production one day.
He said: “And I’ve never played the role of a cricketer, but I do really like cricket.”
Ian’s Corrie character Geoff Metcalfe is currently on a sticky wicket with the soap’s super-fans though after he started controlling Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King).
The actor is hoping viewers don’t start to turn on him when he is out and about in real life.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: “I’m not sure they’re happy that he’s mistreating her.
“People have always been very nice when they recognise me – but I don’t know if that will last.
“I might have to keep my head low, and start wearing a disguise.”
