Fans know that Malcolm Hebden, who plays Norris, briefly returned to the soap this month after some time away for health issues.

In January 2018, it was announced that the actor would not be appearing as Norris for a while after suffering a heart attack.

However, viewers were thrilled to hear he would return this month for a comical storyline.

Norris arrived back on the cobbles at the beginning of May, but it soon became clear he was harbouring a huge secret that rocked Mary Taylor’s world – a fiancée!

Norris announced his plans to marry Freda and asked Mary for a divorce, thus breaking up one of the most amusing partnerships in soap history.

Mary was also gutted to discover that interfering Norris was the one who caused her relationship with Brendan to fall apart after deciding he wasn’t good enough for her!

Now Norris plans to move to Edinburgh to marry Freda and fans have been left wondering if he’ll ever be back.

Next week, the day of Norris’ leaving drinks arrive and, as he reminisces with his former neighbours, it looks like the old-timer might have a change of heart about leaving…

Iain recently told Metro.co.uk that Norris will always be welcome on Coronation Street.

He said: “One hundred per cent Norris is not leaving the show. We just thought that given the circumstances we find ourselves in, it made sense to put a family in number three.

“But it’s certainly not the end of Norris. On both our parts we hope to have him back for good.”

Eek!

Is it too early to start planning his ‘welcome home’ party?
