Coronation Street is getting a bit bloated at the moment after a sterling few years.
Viewers are desperate for fresh blood to breathe new life into the nation’s number one soap, and sadly that means killing off some of the deadwood.
But who should go? Here’s a few possibilities…
Michelle Connor
Few characters attract as much venom as Michelle Connor does.
She has been one of the show’s main characters over the last few years and that’s brought her a lot of fans and a lot of detractors.

However, it’s also brought her a lot of storylines, so there’s very little left for her to do.
And who wouldn’t want to see Kym Marsh use her ever-growing acting skills to tackle a huge issues based storyline and say goodbye to Michelle in a dramatic and powerful way?
Sean Tully
He is the Marmite of the cobbles – viewers either love him or they hate him.
Either way, he’s a bit of a spare part these days with not much happening for him – even his homeless storyline was forgotten almost as soon as he was found looking a bit grimy on a backstreet.
The former barman is living in Billy’s spare room, but how long can that last for?
There’s no room in the flat for him and he can’t go back to Eileen’s so perhaps it’s time to say goodbye to the barman and underwear sewer?
Nick Tilsley
Nick has had more personality transplants than most in soap but his most recent one hasn’t impressed viewers.
He returned after a couple of years away with a shock new wife and a bizarre attitude towards pretty much everyone who isn’t his mother or Leanne Battersby.
His dad’s death is one of Corrie’s most iconic, so is it time for the acorn to not fall far from the tree?
Jim McDonald
There’s no coming back from his last stint so the time is now to say goodbye to old Jim.
He somehow survived beating his wife to remain one of the cobbles’ most popular characters, but after pretending his much younger lover was his dead daughter, there’s only way for him to go.

Jim could make one more sensational return to be killed off in spectacular circumstances.
It could even spark a new whodunnit to drive the show into its 60th year anniversary.
Kate Connor
There’s something about Kate that’s got viewers enraged with her.
The waitress is currently obsessed with having a baby with Rana Nazir after they finally managed to get it together properly after months of flirting and an affair.
But her determination to get pregnant has seen viewers turn on her and they really want her gone.
