78-year-old Malcolm Hebden, who plays busybody Norris, has been taking a much-needed rest from the show after suffering a heart attack in December last year.
Speaking about Malcolm’s possible return Patti hinted: “Norris is in Peru with Emily at the moment. Mary speaks to him often on the phone.
“There’s a faint whisper that he might be back, maybe, next year…”
But before we get too excited about the thought of Norris putting the world to rights once again, nothing is set in stone and it is yet to be officially confirmed that Malcolm is returning to work.
Speaking about his heart attack, Malcolm told the Blackpool Gazette in July: “The heart attack tore a hole in my heart, they operated and took a chance. Fortunately I didn’t realise how bad it was; I was dying.”
The actor was then in an induced coma for much of December last year following a ‘ground breaking’ operation that saw his heart ‘wallpapered’ using tissue from a cow.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
