Reece Dinsdale has thanked fans for their “uplifting” messages after his father passed away on Father’s Day (Sunday June 16).
The former Coronation Street star – who played Joe McIntyre from 2008 to 2010 – was left devastated this week after his dad died the day before shooting BBC One drama Moving On.
The actor continued to work after his father made a “dying wish” that he shouldn’t stop.
He revealed the news his father had passed away in an emotional tweet.
#FathersDay
My best mate, the greatest man I ever knew, has passed away.
He taught me good from bad, right from wrong, & showed me how to love. Broken hearted doesn’t get close… I’ll miss him more than life itself!
May his God now be with him.
RIP, Dad. x

Later on the same day, he thanked all his fans for their heartfelt support during the difficult time.
Reece wrote on Twitter: “Recently, when I said I had ‘brilliant followers’… I lied. I have UNBELIEVABLY brilliant followers!!!
“Your words of love and support today are as kind and generous as they are uplifting.
“Too many to reply to individually, but a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each and every one of you. x

“I shall do it in his honour and let him carry me through. xxx
“Got to get to work now and won’t have time to read all your wonderful messages re my dad.
“But I will… I promise!
“May your day bring good things. x (sic)”
