Jim doesn’t get a warm welcome from Peter Barlow either, who lunges for him for almost killing him when he was in prison for Tina McIntyre’s murder.
Jim pleads for a chance to explain and it’s left to his ex-wife Liz to explain that Steve and Michelle have split up and he’s now marrying Tracy.
But Jim’s got some news of his own. What can it be? And why is he back?
The return of actor Charles Lawson has been one of the most talked about role reprisals of recent years, and it’s all down to the fact it was unveiled recently that he would be coming back to the cobbles with daughter Katie, who he shares with Liz McDonald.
Long-time Corrie fans will remember that Katie tragically died after being born prematurely.
However, it was recently reported that Katie somehow survived in a cruel twist that is set to turn Liz’s entire world upside down.
Australian actress Hannah Ellis Ryan has been cast as the role of Katie, and fellow Corrie actress Kate Ford, better known as the cobbles’ Tracy Barlow, let slip that Jim and Liz’s daughter is now going to be known as Hannah.

There have been hints in the press that Hannah tracked Jim down through his old army records, but Coronation Street officials are yet to confirm the storyline.
It has been reported that Jim is going to be making his big return to the Street with Hannah in tow, but there have been recent paparazzi pictures taken that show Charles Lawson and Beverley Callard filming as Jim and Liz, standing beside a grave.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
